Guide to Buying the Perfect Pc

Posted by: peter  :  Category: PC components

PCs have become a staple in every home. Without PCs, you will find it hard to stay connected and to even do the work required of you in school or in the office. With so much PC packages being shoved to our throat every time we go to department stores and computer shops, you’ll really get quite confused on what you really need and what PC package will fit your budget and lifestyle. To help you through this dilemma, here is a brief backgrounder of the parts of PCs that you should get to know.

Processor.

This is one of the three primary components of your PC. The processor is the part that determines how fast your computer process information. Intel is still the leading brand in processors but competitors such as American Micro Devices (AMD) are slowly catching up, offering cheaper alternative. In shopping for a processor, one should consider the following:

Clock speed – this will show the number of instructions that a computer can execute in a second. This usually comes after the brand name. Processors nowadays are already set at the gigahertz range.

Cache memory – this stores the data that were previously accessed. This simplifies the work of the computer as it would not take twice as long to access information already stored in memory bank. Without a cache memory, much of the work will fall on the RAM (Random Access Memory).

Operating temperature – some processors easily heats up. Before buying, make sure that you have asked about the operating temperature just in case you need to buy additional fans or put the computer in an air-conditioned room.

RAM (Random Access Memory).

RAM serves as the temporary memory of the PC, containing information that are needed for the computer and the programs to function. In addition to processors, RAM also determines the speed of the computer. The higher the RAM, the faster the computer is in accessing information and responding to commands.

Motherboard

This is where all the parts of the PC’s CPU (Central Processing Unit) are attached. Some motherboards already have video cards and soundcards embedded on it while others don’t. What is important however is to choose a motherboard that is compatible with your RAM and processor? Incompatibility of PC hardware can cause major problems and may even lead to the breakdown of your computer.

Hard drive.

This is the part where you store all the information in your PC. Picture a floppy disk with much much larger storing capacity. The hard drive serves as the permanent memory of your computer. Here you install all your programs and save all the documents that you need. It is also important that you buy a hard drive with really big capacity especially now when people are so used to storing multimedia files that may use up a lot of hard drive space.

Video cards

This is the part of the computer which determines the quality of the multimedia images that you will view. The higher the memory of the video card, the better is the picture quality and the colors. Also, video cards are also responsible for how fast multimedia images are accessed. This is especially needed if you use your computer for multimedia activities such as watching a movie or playing video games.

What Are The Best Components On Buying A Pc?

Posted by: peter  :  Category: PC components

My brother wants to buy a new PC and we are from the Philippines.I think he wants to assemble it as gaming PC or can be a little bit of home PC. :pThus, what i mean by the best or top is that it is not really a good one to make up a gaming PC, but also a good one for home PC.if you don’t understand, we want to make our PC a “multi-purpose”,we will install some good games in it and also use it just like being a home PC.:D
Pls specify the following components:
Best processor or top processors
Best motherboard or top motherboards
Best video card or top video cards (or graphics card?)
Which is a better monitor? flat-screen or a….like a TV one? (i am not a PC master)
Best operating system(I HEARD that WIndows XP Professional is the best, and better than WIndows Vista because Windows Vista has many bugs?)
If you want to suggest me without following my guide to what components I’m asking, you can.

Buying a Printer

Posted by: peter  :  Category: Printers

Most people get confused about which kind of printer to purchase. Here are some basic questions you should ask before buying one.

What kind of printer should I buy?

The kind of printer you should buy depends on what you need to print out. If you only need to print documents such as simple reports and spreadsheets, letters, or copies of Internet pages, a low-end inkjet printer may be enough for you. If you need to print high quality photographs and presentations, you would want a photo printer. If you need to print more than a hundred pages daily without the need for colour, you should get a laser printer. Of course, a combination of a printer, scanner, copier and fax – a multifunction printer is always best.

How much should I spend on a new printer?

Regular inkjet printers today generally cost less than

Laser Printer Buying Guides

Posted by: peter  :  Category: Printers

If you are looking to purchase laser printer, here are some features of laser printers which would be helpful to those who are purchasing laser printer or those who need information about laser printers.

Laser printers give the highest quality text and images among the printers. Laser printers got different model. Some of them are perfect for small businesses and home offices. Some reliable low-cost models are also available that are perfect for everyday personal printing.

Some of the features of Laser Printers are

Resolution, Quality, and Color: -

The standard resolution of leaser printer is 1200 dots per inch (dpi). For everyday printing, including small DTP jobs this type of laser printer is well-suited. But still some laser printers have a resolution of 300 dpi. Resolution enhancement technology is used in such laser printer with a resolution of 300 dpi because such printer causes rough edges on the images. RET are used to smooth the rough edges.

Color laser printers are more expensive as compared to black-and-white versions and require a great deal of printer memory to produce high-resolution images

Speed: –

As far as speed is concerned Lasers printer is the fastest among the printer. One can get full-color results as fast as 3 to 4 pages per minute (ppm), and black-and-white output as fast as 25 ppm. But it needs time to warm up the fuser to operating temperature when the printer is turn on. It generally takes 5 to 30 seconds to warm up the printer. But now laser printer with ?instant on? fuser is available. This instant on fusers has been design to reduce the warm up time of a printer

Paper handling, size and capacity: -

Most laser printers use letter-size, cut-sheet paper. Supplementary paper trays or feeders can be added to increase the capacity.

Laser printers can print on a variety of papers sizes, types and weights, such as transparencies, labels and card stock. They can also handle non-traditional media like envelopes. But papers, such as iron-on transfers, are not suitable for laser printers, as the heat used in the transfer process could damage the paper and gum up your printer.

A laser printer with duplex printing can print on one side of the paper, then turn the paper over and print on the other side. Most laser printers, however, use the simpler manual duplex printing.

PCL or postscript:-

PCL – “Printer command language” is the standard printer language for HP’s and most other laser printers. PCL is used for printing letters, database printouts, spreadsheets and simple graphics. A laser printer that uses only PCL can be upgraded to Postscript by installing a software driver provided by the manufacturer of the laser printer.

Buying Tips for Desktop Pc

WANT TO BUY A COMPUTER?

Having computer today is absolutely a necessity today for your office. Now a days computer allows you to operate your business from sitting at home. Thus saving your time spent in travel as well stress you go through. Or if you have kids then it becomes so much more important to buy a computer for you home. As kids today need as much knowledge and literacy in computer as possible for their brighter future or we can say for even their survival in cut throat competitive world.

Before starting on points to consider to buy a computer, I will like to say that there is every chance after buying a computer in month or so you will find that there are even faster and cheaper computers available in market. So just try and find fastest and best suitable machine with your budget. Because even if technology going to evolve everyday your computer not going to be a junk on table in one day.

Now when we start hunting for a computer, decide if you want to go with branded computer or assembled one. My suggestion will be assemble one as it will cheaper and you can select best components and assemble them together. Only negative point will be for servicing you have to contact different people for different components.

Configuration for computer:- (This will help you select your branded or assembled computer)

Processors (CPUs):

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the brain of your computer. In general, the faster the better. Processor speeds are measured in gigahertz (GHz), the fastest models available now is in the range of 4GHz, but this is for mean hardcore machines. If you are in hardcore animation, gaming industry you can go with it but it will be really expensive. For the basic everyday office or home use processors starting from 1.5 GHz, is good enough. Then you have to make choice between Intel core duo or AMD core duo. General assumption if you want to play games on your machines then AMD processors serves the purpose better. Or Intel is common in use and will be cheaper option than the AMD processor.

Memory (RAM):

Most computers now use a type of memory called DDR2. Some high performance one might use DDR3, but this is quite expensive. Avoid systems using DDR1 or SDRAMS as for the amount of memory go for at least 1GB of memory. Memory speed will have immediate impact on performance as well. More the memory faster the PC. When buying computer try to buy as few DIMMs as possible to allow for future memory upgrades if needed.

Hard Drives:-

Hard drives are where all your data is going to be saved so it is also a very important part of your computers. Now a days Hard drives going down on sizes and going up on storage space. You must have at least 250GB of hard disk. Almost all of them are running at 7200rpm now.

Optical Drives (CD/DVD):

Most of the systems now comes with DVD writer, CD writers are things of past now. And there is no need to make any adjustment in the budget. As for floppy drives, they are part of ancient history of PC?s, nobody use it anyway.

Motherboard:

Choice of motherboard will depend on the processor you have selected, it has to be compatible with processor. You have to take care that, the motherboard you have selected has onboard video graphic card, sound card as well as there is provision for external video card and sound card in case of high end use. The motherboard should allow you to add LAN card, Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 connectors. And try to have as many USB connectors as possible as most of the Upgrades and Peripherals of computers use USB nowadays.

Cabinet:

This will have to be compatible with hardware you have selected. Ithas to have SMPS into it to power up the hardware. Then it has to as less bulky as possible and with arrangement for air ventilation so that your PC will be safe from overheating.

Monitors:

Monitor is also a as important part of PC as CPU is. Previously when LCD?s were really expensive people used to go with CRT, but now LCD is the option everyone goes for. If anybody think of CRT he goes for Flat Panel CRT. But LCD is still far better because it gives sharper picture, it is not bulky, it occupies lesser space, and it is easy on your eyes too. As for the size 17 inch is standard size now a days. Just take care to buy a monitor which should be capable of 1024 x 768 resolution, you might use most commonly 800 x 600 resolution. But it is always better to have provision.

Input/Output Interference Peripherals:

Keyboard and mouse has to be the first thing to buy as they will help you to communicate with you PC. There are wired and wireless Keyboard and Mouse available in the market so it will depend on anyone?s personal taste.

Then you can add ?All in one printer? in your set up which will help you to print, scan, copy as well as fax your documents.

You will also need LAN card installed in your system to connect Internet. As modem is provided by Internet Provider nowadays so you don?t have to worry about it.

Then there will speakers to listen to music and movies, if you prefer to watch DVD?s on your PC then you can add 5.1 home theatre speaker set in your system.

If you want to use your PC for chatting then you need to have a Headphone with Microphone and Webcam of 2 ? 3 megapixel.

You can also add TV tuner card to your PC to watch TV on your desktop computer.

Softwares:

After all the hardware in place you have to think about the softwares as they are essentially decides how you want to use your computer. There are two popular and user-friendly operating systems available in the market, WINDOWS and MAC. Windows has captured most of the PC market than the MAC. As it is more compatible to most of the softaware and it has been used by almost everyone it is better bet as it is lot cheaper than MAC, and it is only because of ?Supply and Demand? Rule. Don?t judge quality by there price difference. Although buying MAC is in thing now a days, it is somewhat style statement. As MAC?s other product Apple ipod and iphone becoming really popular. So it?s again personal choice.

Then there are various softwares available to enhance the use of your computer, there is MS OFFICE which contains MS Word, MS Excell, Powerpoint, Outlook etc. to help in your office and school, college work. Then there is Adobe, Corel, Macromedia?s softwares like photoshop, coreldraw, Flash, dreamweaver, etc. to help you with your artistic work.

After installing all the softwares don?t forget to install Antivirus software to protect your PC from Virus specially if you are using Internet.

So in Nutshell go and find suitable PC for yourself and enjoy the limitless possible things your PC can do for you.
